How to Apply for IB Junior Intelligence Officer Exam

The Intelligent Bureau is India’s Internal Intelligence Agency who’s first and foremost concern is to be vigilant about the anti- social, anti- national and anti- terrorist activities. The IB department has recently released a notification for interested candidates for fulfilling the post of Junior Intelligence Officer- JIO. This is a golden chance for those who wish to be an Intelligence Bureau officer. Below are the exam dates and related details for aspiring candidates:


Interested applicants should be in the age limit of 18-27 years as ok August 6, and age relaxations are applicable for different categories as per government rules- 5 years for SC/ ST and 3 years for OBC. The online registration for the position of Junior Intelligence Officer Grade- II in Intelligence Bureau starts tentatively from September 3rd– 24th. The aspirants must have a qualification of higher secondary with Mathematics and Physics, and two years industrial training course from a recognized university in Radio Technician or Electronics or Electronics and Communication.

How to Apply

Candidates belonging to General/ OBC category have to pay application fees of Rs.50 through challan form at any branch of State Bank of India. They will then have to take a printout of the challan form where all the candidate details will be printed and deposit the fee in cash at any branch of state bank of India. All female and SC/ ST candidates are exempted from the payment of examination fees. To apply, aspirants can apply online through the official website within the time from September 3rd– 24th.

Job Details

There are a total vacancy of 320 for the post of Junior Intelligence Officer with a pay scale of Rs. 5200- 20200/- and grade pay Rs. 2400/-. The selection is based on written test and trade test.

Written Test Pattern

The written test will have 2 papers:

Paper 1: Objective type multiple choice test on general studies, reasoning, science, etc.

Paper 2: Descriptive paper for 80 marks each.

Trade Test Pattern

The trade test would be technical and practical based related to the job profile for 40 marks.

Important Dates

The online registration starts from 3rd September and last date to submit the form is 24th September. The last date to deposit exam fees is 27th September and the admit cards will be available from the month of October. The examination will be held on 16th of October and the results shall be intimated on the website where the student need to keep checking.
